One new record

Seventy-one new temperature records were set around the country last month according to Niwa, but only one of them was in the Far North. Cape Reinga set a new mean air temperature record for March — 20.2 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degrees above average. It also recorded its thirdhighest mean minimum air temperature for March, 17.4 degrees. Temperature records there date back to 1951.
