Not so dry

Soil moisture levels have increased substantially in many regions, most significantly in areas including parts of Northland, although small decreases were reported in western Northland, which according to Niwa had some of the lowest moisture levels in the North Island. ‘Hotspots’ had decreased substantially thanks to widespread moderate to heavy rainfall, but remained in western Northland and on the Aupo¯uri Peninsula.
