Car vs house

Police are looking for the two occupants of a Holden Commodore that failed to stop at the stop sign at the end of De Merle St in Kaikohe yesterday morning, passing through the intersection at speed and crashing into a house in Hongi St. The elderly resident said the car crashed into her bedroom wall, adding that she would normally have still been in bed, but had risen early yesterday and was in the kitchen at the time. The two male occupants, described as Ma¯ori, wearing high vis or forestry gear, abandoned the car and fled on foot. Police believe that at least one of them had not been wearing a seat belt.
