Dojo on move
The Bay of Islands dojo of NZ Kenseikan Karatedo is moving and will now train for traditional shotokan karate at the Waipapa Sports Complex dojo from Tuesday, May 7. Head instructor Jurgen Perlich said any age or level was welcome, with classes held on Tuesdays 4pm-5pm for kids, and 5.30pm to 7pm for everyone else. “Karate is great for fitness, focus, discipline and is more an art than just a sport. Our students go to regional, national and international tournaments and we have a strong link to Japan,” he said. NZ Kenseikan operates under the auspices of Karate NZ, the government-approved body for the martial art. For more information, contact Jurgen Perlich 021-1256048, or visit, www.kenseikan.org
