Steiner playgroup is an all-round hit
The Kaikohe Steiner Playgroup only opened a few weeks ago, is already proving to be a hit with children and their parents and caregivers.
The playgroup, established by the Bay of Islands Waldorf Education Trust, which also runs a kindergarten at Oromahoe and a playgroup at Waimate North, meets every Thursday (9.30am — noon) during the school terms at the Pioneer Village, which trust chairman Graeme Kettle said was a great venue offering plenty of opportunities for imaginative play.
Participation is free, activities including baking, singing songs, story time, playing with handmade toys, art and free time.
Mr Kettle said he was very pleased with how the group was going, adding that while adult involvement was encouraged, parents were welcome to relax and enjoy the morning without having to worry about organising or cleaning up afterwards.
“We see the value of the playgroup as being just as much for the parents as it is for the children,” he said.
