Awanui man Kevin Matthews doubts that the coco de mer found at Tom Bowling Bay 50 years ago (That was quick, April 11) made it all the way from its native Seychelles. He suspected it had been washed or thrown off a vessel in the Tasman Sea, currents in the upper Indian Ocean being more likely to take it to Africa.
