Winter arrives right on cue

-

The Houhora Bowling Club recently held its official closing day for the 2018/ 19 programme and it proved very successful, with bowlers from the Kaitaia RSA, Oruru, Houhora and a threesome of very keen players who travelled all the way from Mangawhai to participate.

A report from the Farmlands Touranment noted the weather was definitely a lot cooler than at other recent tournaments, which showed winter was fast approaching.

Winners on the day were once again the formidable duo of Barrie and Alex Kinnear, who along with teammate Ian Davis, scored 4 wins, 25 ends and 56 points.

Runners-up were Russell Hockley, Myna Bristow and Ivy Wiki 3, 23, 39; while third place- getters by a very narrow margin were Marty Doak, Razia Wrigley and Brian Cox 3, 23, 37.

The club thanked the sponsors for their generous support once again, and all those who had travelled to support the club during the summer season.

“See you all at Houhora next year. Good bowling for the remainder of the season.”
