Fine day as midweek ladies chase Cossack Cup

The midweek ladies of the Kaitaia Golf Club enjoyed warm fine autumn conditions for the first round of the Cossack Cup last Wednesday. Winners to go through to the second round were Lorna Subritzky, Sandy Joe, Rosaleen Steed, Raewyn Shaw and Elaine Knightsbridge. Fay Patterson and Knightsbridge both had 2s so cleaned out the coffers. Well done to all who played well.

Standoff in Houhora

Visitors from the Great Barrier Island Golf Club swelled numbers for the Houhora Golf Club’s nett competition on Sunday which saw John Cooper coming home first with 62 points followed by Neil St George 69 and Cabby Johnson third on 71. The regular midweek 9-hole haggle last Wednesday resulted in a three-way tie with the first three players scoring 18 points; but after a countback, Richard Thompson prevailed over Myna Bristow in second and Russell Hockley third.
