-

Acting Inspector Rob Huys was pleased there were no deaths on Northland roads over Easter, but was disappointed by checkpoint results in Whanga¯rei on Good Friday. More than 35 infringement notices were issued, several of them for speeding and six for drink driving. The worst offender was a 29-year-old man who was processed for breath alcohol and who had four unrestrained children in his vehicle, one of whom was sitting in the front passenger footwell.
