Kerikeri’s Kingston House will take on a decidedly orange hue on Saturday, when the town celebrates the colourful Dutch festival Koningsdag (King’s Day), with live entertainment, dancing, drinking, eating and general indulging in Dutchstyle revels, all while wearing orange, the country’s national colour.

The event is an annual tradition in Amsterdam, staged in honour of the Dutch royal family. The slightly smaller Far North version will run from 11am to 10pm, the attractions including a free flea market, traditional games for children, belly and Indonesian dances, a raffle and a dance party.

The menu will include Dutch fried bread, croquettes, salted herrings, cheese platters, mini pancakes, apple pie, butter cake and cookies, along with an array of Indonesian dishes and treats.

Entry will cost adults $2 and children $1.
