Appeal for a Kaikohe family

-

A Givealittle page has been launched on behalf of the Kaikohe family whose home was destroyed by fire on Anzac Day.

Ursula Beazley, Alfred Tango, two daughters and six grandchildren lost almost everything they owned in the blaze, including four generations’ worth of photos and memories.

The Givealittle page was set up on Friday to help replace clothing and cover other immediate needs over the next few weeks.

Mikaela Beazley Tango wrote in a Facebook post last week that wha¯nau and community support had been overwhelming.

“Many thanks to everyone who has kindly donated clothing for me and the kids, it does not go unnoticed . . . I have with me what matters most, and they are my babies,” she said.

The family was not asking for money and was whakama¯ (embarrassed) to accept financial help, but after many requests had open the Givealittle page to give people that option.

As of yesterday morning the page (www.givealittle.co.nz/cause/ripi-streetblaze-on-anzac-day) had raised $1920. The appeal, which has an open goal, closes on May 26.

Meanwhile the appeal to raise $50,000 to enable Ahipara woman Monique Dickins to undergo urgent cancer surgery (www.givealittle.co.nz/cause/2-weeks-toraise-dollar50000-for-monique) has almost reached its target. As of yesterday it had raised $49,345. The page closes on July 17.

The appeal by Far North expat Graeme Fawcett, to raise the $15,000 he needs to bring his beloved dog Nathan back to New Zealand (www.givealittle.co.nz/cause/help-bringnathan-home-to-his-family) had raised $320. That appeal closes on December 1.
