Several Northland players feature in the new-look 2019 Black Ferns squad announced earlier this week including Harono Te Iringa, one of seven new caps in the side. Te Iringa is one of several players from the Counties Manukau provincial team in the Ferns side. Other Northlanders from the Counties Manukau team named in the Ferns squad include Leilani Perese, (Kaitaia College teacher) Te Kura Ngata-Aerengamate and Arihiana Marino-Tauhinu. The Black Ferns’ international test season starts next month with the Women’s Rugby Super Series 2019 in San Diego when they will face Canada (June 29), hosts USA (July 3), France (July 7) and England (July 15). They then return home to play Australia in Perth on August 10 and Eden Park on August 17; both games curtain-raising the All Blacks vs Wallabies tests.
