No major damage

Police attended four road crashes around Northland in the 24 hours to noon on Sunday. None of them rated as serious. Sergeant Mohammed Atiqur said that was encouraging given the weather and increased long weekend traffic. Motorists were also phoning *555 to report behaviour such as speeding and dangerous overtaking. The incidents included a car colliding with a power box in Paihia at around 5am, then being driven off, and the rear-ending of one car by another near Cable Bay mid-morning.
