Firearm charge

The Armed Offenders’ Squad was called to a Hokianga address on Sunday evening in response to reports of a man allegedly threatening another with a firearm. Senior Sergeant Brian Swann said a man had gone to visit a “friend,” but the situation deteriorated. A 46-year-old Waimamaku man was charged with presenting a firearm. He appeared in the Kaikohe District Court on Monday and was remanded on bail to June 18. Police seized a number of firearms.
