We are not all born equal in strength and ability, but the good book says equal in the eyes of God. The important teachers are parents, families, and life’s experience­s added to by skilled teachers.

As a child of the 1930s Depression years I well remember the old odd job men who slept in the barn, chopped firewood and helped around the place for mother’s great meals and a few bob.

In spring time they were off to the mountain bush and streams with swags on their backs, working secret waters where winter floods had washed gold into crevices. Work on the roads with pick and shovel, perhaps
