Can’t find no unicorn?

-

Noah couldn’t find a couple of unicorns for his ark until it was too late, according to the Irish Rovers, but Bay of Islands Animal Rescue has had better luck.

It has secured one for a school holiday children’s party in Riding for the Disabled’s indoor arena at Waimate North on Saturday, July 6.

The Medieval Party is being organised as a fundraiser for the charity, which works tirelessly to rehome cats, dogs, cats and other animals in the district.

Along with pony (and unicorn) rides, the party will feature a bouncy castle, games and food, including a sausage sizzle, from 10am to

2pm.

Sam Stewart, fundraising and marketing manager, said children would be invited to try their hand at archery (with suction cup arrows), along with sword and shield painting and unicorn mask painting.

There would be “a bit of dog safety education” too.

Since forming in 2017, Bay of Islands Animal Rescue had rehomed well over 500 dogs, plus cats, horses, sheep, pigs, cows, ducks and even rabbits.
