Morning tea well deserved

Mangonui Garden Club members treated themselves to morning tea at the Ramada Taipa¯ Resort last month as their reward for the hard work that went into the club’s second annual flower show in February a great success.

Meanwhile, this month’s guest speaker was Rixt Botello, on the subject of medicinal and traditiona­l natural medicines, herbs and oils. Plans were also advanced for celebratin­g the club’s 45th birthday in September.

This month’s arrangemen­t competitio­n (Autumn Sensations) was won by Julie Mays, other results as follows. Miniature — Julie Mays. Rose — Wendy Wyatt. Bloom — Jenny Knight. Cluster/spike - Pauline Stark. Fruit — Barbra Curreen. Vegetable — Bess Brigs. Herb — Jenny Knight. Foliage — Wendy Wyatt. Most points — Pauline Stark.

The meeting finished with the usual afternoon tea and chat.

The next meeting will take the form of mid-year Christmas in the St John Hall in Cooper’s Beach on Monday July 3.
