Have instruments will perform

-

Last month students at Waitaruke’s Te Kura o Hato Hohepa Te Kamura were busy busking to raise money for instruments. They were successful, and tomorrow evening the community will be welcome to see and hear what they are achieving at a concert at the Kaeo Hall.

The concert, aka Arts Extravaganza, starting at 6pm, will in turn be a fundraiser for end of year activities.

The musical programme, which will run for about an hour, will be varied, including choral items, kapa haka, instrumental solos and duets, and two novel presentations of three violinists followed by four guitarists.

The children’s performance will be followed by another from the school’s outof-hours adult class, which will contribute three numbers on ukulele, guitar, keyboards and violin. The class meets at the kura for an hour from 3.30pm every Friday, and anyone who would like to join next term is welcome to contact the school secretary on (09) 405-1773.

Tomorrow evening’s extravaganza will also include a display of art, which will be sold via a silent auction. Some of the pieces were exceptional, considering the age of the artists, a school spokesperson said, especially photos transferred on to polished wood, which she suggested were worthy of heirloom status.

“So too are many of the fine paintings, using a number of innovative techniques,” she added.

“Come along and support the kura and the tamariki. You will not be disappointed.”
