A hundred years and one day
The Fairburn Kaiaka Hall was officially opened on February 28, 1920, with a ball. And on Saturday week, precisely 100 years and one day later, its centennial will be celebrated, with a ball.
Wayne Roycroft will provide the music, while, in best country tradition, supper will be served.
The celebration will continue next day, March 1, with high tea at 2pm, and an exhibition of photographs and documents from the hall’s earliest days and later.
Some memorabilia will be available for purchase at both functions, and some food will be for sale on the Sunday, while donations to the hall coffers will be as welcome as always.
