KEEPING IT LOCAL
Northland is rich in untapped renewable energy potential. Electricity generation developers know this too.
Transpower, Top Energy and Northpower have received dozens of applications from generation developers totalling nearly two gigawatts of renewable generation- enough to power over 375,000 households.
While the networks don’t have the capacity to pick-up all this new generation, local network investments and upgrades could address this issue. However, the cost of these investments can be substantial and most likely require multiple parties to contribute to make it economic.
This is where a Northland Renewable Energy Zone pilot could help and why your support is important. Power generated locally will be cheaper than power transported to the region from the south.
