The Northland Age

Good turnout for a day of fun croquet

-

Kaitaia Croquet hosted an allday tournament on Friday supported by clubs from all over Northland and kindly sponsored by Shackletons Chemist.

For the first time this season, Kaitaia had enough entrants to be able to run an association competition which all six participants thoroughly enjoyed. Entrants were from Kaitaia, Kerikeri, Whangārei and Kensington with Matt Cole from Whangārei taking out the honours.

Golf croquet players played four, one-hour, 19-hoop games, with all participants enjoying some very competitive play. Although conditions were a little windy at times, the cloud cover was much appreciated.

Congratulations to all players on a very happy, friendly atmosphere felt during the course of a great day of croquet.

The eventual winners were: Association 1st – Matt Cole (Whangā rei), 2nd – Joe Carter (Kaitaia).
