Forget painting the town red! This October, it’s all about pink. There are thousands of volunteers throughtou­t New Zealand collecting donations nationwide in the name of stopping breast cancer in its tracks!

This year, the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal is taking place on October 29th and 30th - two days of kiwi generosity.

Some breast cancer statistics:

• More than 3,000 women diagnosed

each year

• More than 600 die each year

• 1 woman a day is diagnosed under

the free screening age of 45

• One Maori woman a day is

diagnosed

• Your risk is higher at 70 than it was

at 50
