Large scrub fire

Fire and Emergency NZ was called to a large scrub fire on Kaitā iaAwaroa Rd before noon on Monday. Kaitā ia deputy chief fire officer Ross Beddows said six appliances and two helicopters responded to the fire, which was in an area that was difficult for ground crews to access. The fire, which covered several hectares, out by about 5.30pm. There was no immediate indication of the cause, but investigations were continuing.
