Full complement take part in tourney

-

The sun was out and the playing was keen for Kerikeri Croquet’s first all day tournament of the season on November 4. A full complement of 40 players from all over Northland competed in two sections for prizes gifted by our regular and wonderful sponsors, the Quail Ridge Country Club, said Chris Lancaster, the club’s spokesperson. The results:

Section 1 — 1st was Jill Williams of Kerikeri, 2nd Steve Hopkins of Whangārei and 3rd equal were Darla Blake of Boubtless Bay and Des heath of Waipū.

Section 2 — 1st Richard Schofield of Kerikeri, Glenn Fuller of Doubtless Bay and 3rd was Sonia Williams of Kensington.

Bunches of early summer flowers were given to three competitors who played amazing shots — Sue McLeod and Mary Heeney for making a hoop with one stroke from 20 yards away and Jean Kent who gently hit her partner’s ball through the back of the hoop to place it in the way of both opposition balls — so precise, said Lancaster.

?? ?? The winners of the day: Steve Hopkins, Darla Blake, Jill Williams, Sonia Williams, Sue McLeod, Glenn Fuller, Mary Heeney, Des Heath, Jean Kent and Richard Schofield.
