Eagle soars walker to victory at Houhora

The strong wind couldn't stop Anne Walker taking out Houhora Golf Club's 18-hole competitio­n on

Sunday. Walker, who shot an eagle on hole number five, came home with 39 stableford points.

Second was Ian Davis with 34, and third Denis Musson 33.

Patrick Wedding won both the nearest to the pin and the longest putt.

■ Results from last Wednesday's high-scoring 9-hole haggle were:

First Paul Sykes with 22 stableford points from Ivor Bates also 22 but losing on countback, third Ash Mitchell 19.

Longest putt was Lenny Crewther. However, the nearest to the pin was not struck.
