Te Hiku Community Board this month held its second meeting since the local body elections. During the meeting at Te Ahu, the board granted over $25,000 to three community groups: $20,000 to Houhora Big Game and Sports Fishing Club for the purchase of a commercial oven; $3000 to Paparore School for equipment hire for the school Whanau Open Day; and $4000 to SMC Events for the Te Hiku Sanitarium WeetBix Kids TRY Challenge event kit. A key decision was the official appointmen­t of Councillor Felicity Foy as the council’s representa­tive to the board. The last community board meeting for the year will be held on December 13.
