Road needs opening

-

How long are we, the people north of the Mangamukas going to sit here with the wool pulled over our eyes. Every time there is a report on the progress for opening the road we just get a bit more of the same pathetic excuses. Admittedly it is a mess, but I have yet to see a photo where the whole road has disappeared.

On a temporary basis what would be wrong with a few loads of metal to build up the slumped sections. Keep the water off it and it may never slump again. Where one lane has dropped completely dig the bank out to make it wider or is DoC worried about a tree or two?

There could be weight restrictions on northbound traffic for the outer edge of the road, a traffic light system on sections.

There must be numerous other options to help alleviate some of the cost and pain to the Far North.

So come on Waka Kotahi forget about all the fancy ideas for now of a permanent fix and just get on with the job of opening the road ASAP and worry about the rest later.
