Two days of mixed pairs at Ngunguru

And 118 golfers turn up for Christmas cheer tournament

-

Golfers headed down to Ngunguru Golf Club on November 26 and 27 for the Mixed Pairs Tournament. New organiser Brooke Irving had the task of following a class act of Moira and Don Pullman who hosted the last seven years.

Numbers were down from previous years but that did not stop those who turned up to play the two day, 18-hole tournament.

Local Kaitaia golfer Flo Smith and her partner Mike Fergusson featured in the prizes. Smith and Lennie Shailes also cleaned up on the raffle table.

Saturday was a beautiful day but on Sunday the rain arrived. Thank goodness for the refreshment tent that was out on the course; fun was had by all, said golfing circle spokeswoman Cynthia Shailes.

Kaitaia Golf Club held the first Xmas Cheer on Saturday, November 26 and had a nice size field.

The day started with a light shower and, true to form, the Ahipara weather the rest of the day was played in very good conditions. The sponsor was Crediflex; many thanks Grant Billington.

The Women’s winner was Ellen Wright, Men’s Division One – Paul Thompson and Men’s Division Two – John McGovern.

It was with deepest sadness that the club farewelled long-time member, and good friend to many, Simon Yates on Monday, November 28. Massive Love to Val Yates and family.
