Speed limit feedback

-

The public has until Monday to weigh in on the draft Interim State Highway Speed Management plan, which proposes new speed limits on parts of the state highway network, including speeds around over 260 schools. Umawera School is just one school on the road corridors under review; its principal has described the local traffic climate and its fast-moving logging trucks as an accident waiting to happen. Part of the Road to Zero road safety strategy, the plan is focused on ensuring younger generations have the freedom to walk, bus or bike to school. To learn more and to submit feedback, people can access consultation information sheets at local libraries and community centres, or visit: nzta. govt.nz/ISMP Public consultation closes at 5pm on December 12.
