November was the seventh successive month to deliver morethan-average rainfall in Kaitaia. The Northland Age recorded 177.1mm on 18 days, almost double the average of 90.7mm on 12 days, taking the total for the year so far to 1634.5mm on 175 days. The same 11 months last year delivered 1374.6mm on 166 days, while the 92-year average is 1256.4mm on 164 days. Spring, too, was wetter than usual, with 443.9mm falling on 49 days compared with the average of 307.4mm on 44 days. The spring extremes were recorded in 1955 (519mm) and 1931 (136mm).
