Getting the complete picture
Asia Fruit Logistica grows in size every year as well as its networking opportunities for New Zealand fruit and vegetable exporters.
During the first week of September Horticulture New Zealand, together with Plant & Food Research, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) and horticulture exporters participated in the Asia Fruit Logistica 2018 trade show in Hong Kong. The NZ stand was occupied by 14 businesses who met with new and existing customers from the AsiaPacific region and beyond.
Asia Fruit Logistica is the leading exhibition for marketing fresh fruit and vegetables in Asia. The show continues to grow each year, with more than 2300 businesses participating in 2018 and 78,000 trade visitor passes issued. It covers every part of the fresh fruit and vegetable business, providing a complete picture of the latest innovations, products and services at every link in the international supply chain. So it offers superb annual networking opportunities for the decision-makers throughout industry to meet with their Asia business partners and also make new business contacts.
As in previous years the show was a big success with positive feedback provided from all NZ exhibitors and strong interest in the 2019 show. The NZ stand was based on a M-aori meeting
house design, incorporating meeting rooms and surrounded by exhibitors’ pods. Exhibitors made great use of their individual meeting areas, displaying their produce, marketing material and offering samples of fresh fruit and vegetables. The stand was very popular with visitors throughout the event commenting on its openness and the warm Kiwi welcomes they received.
Asia Fruit Logistica also provides many opportunities to participate in networking events run by sponsors and commercial entities. As a host NZTE invited exhibitors and other NZ businesses to a breakfast to receive an update on trade trends in Asia from their regional NZTE business development manager. And they also heard a special presenter, sustainability consultant, Dr. Merrin Pearse, speak about profiting from sustainable packaging. As well sponsors of the NZ stand, Agrofresh NZ and the Port of Napier hosted a reception for exhibitors, other NZ businesses and their clients.
Although Asia Fruit Logistica has wrapped up, HortNZ and Plant & Food Research have started organisation for next year’s NZ stand. Next year we are considering a redesign of the stand and also hope to attract new exhibitors to participate.
