New buzz in Canes keeps Jane at home

- Toby Robson

THREE weeks on the road with his new Hurricanes teammates and his desire to never look back on his All Blacks career with any regret has convinced Cory Jane to stay in New Zealand for another two years.

Jane has re-signed with the New Zealand Rugby Union, Wellington and the Hurricanes through to the end of 2014.

But the 29-year-old said he was loving the new environment at the franchise and looking forward rather than back.

‘‘Everyone knows last year was difficult, but this year I’m enjoying myself,’’ he said yesterday.

‘‘People are listening and improving and making those changes.’’

Jane, who has been a Hurricane since 2007, said the tour of South Africa had brought the squad close together and cemented his decision to stay on.

‘‘We have a lot of young fellas, they are going out there to play for each other, but to have a bit of fun and when its rugby time they’re switched on. Going to Africa was important as a young team trying to earn a bit of respect,
