Outstanding Petone apartment
APETONE apartment with flexible living spaces, signature design and fabulous views will be auctioned on April 5. The three-bedroom residence, at 14/204 Jackson St, has come on the market for the first time since The Atrio development was completed in 2008.
It’s on the top floor of the three-level, 19-unit complex, measures 153 square metres and comes with two car parks, a wraparound, 60sqm deck and Wellington city and harbour views.
Although it was bought off the plans, the vendor commissioned an architect and interior designer to improve it to his own exacting specifications, Llew Kemeys, of Professionals, Hutt City, says.
‘‘This a unique apartment in a development that’s already renowned for being easily the best constructed and specified apartment complex in Petone.’’
Another distinctive feature is its configuration, which offers independent living for families and couples.
As well as a spacious living-dining area, there is a second living area adjoining the main bedroom suite that can be sealed off from the rest of the apartment.
‘‘It was designed to have two distinct living sections, almost like an apartment within an apartment, and is wired throughout for Bose audio systems.
‘‘The vendor is an international businessman who lives here infrequently and wanted to have independent living space when younger family members were staying,’’ Mr Kemeys says.
Another advantage is that although the apartment has city and harbour views along the southern side, the main livingdining areas are oriented towards the west, to maximise the sun. The livingdining area has two sets of bifolding doors, so it can open to either side of the wraparound deck, and is open-plan with the entertainer’s kitchen.
The latter has granite benchtops, two Bosch wall ovens, a built-in Bosch espresso machine, a rangehood, a ceramic cooktop, a Liebherr refrigerator-freezer with an integrated wine fridge, an integrated dishwasher and a pantry with slide-out shelves.
The main bedroom has a luxurious tiled ensuite with a designer bath and shower, dressing area with wardrobes and, like the adjoining living area, opens to the spacious wraparound deck.
The other bedrooms are at either end of the hall, off which is a full bathroom, with a hideaway laundry, and a separate toilet.
‘‘This is an outstanding apartment,’’ Mr Kemeys says.
‘‘It would rank among Wellington’s best in terms of design, yet it is far more affordable than anything comparable in the city.’’
