Junior apprentice gardener sessions with the team from the Botanic Gardens. Children aged between 7 and 12 are welcome to come and learn the secrets of gardening. Must be accompanie­d by an adult. Bookings essential, call 04 499 1400. The Treehouse, Botanic Gardens. 10am till noon on Monday, October 1, and Thursday, October 4. Free. Take a tour of the Karori Cemetery and some of the oldest and most unusual monuments in New Zealand’s second biggest burial ground. Meet at the main chapel in Rosehaugh Ave, Karori. 10.30am till noon, Tuesday, October 2. Free. The big annual buggy walk through the Botanic Gardens will be great exercise. Meet at the Dell, behind the Lady Norwood Rose Garden. 10am till noon. Thursday, October 4. Free. Meet Fairy Trina for a magical ride on the cable car and storytime at the top. All children must be accompanie­d by an adult. Bookings essential, call 04 472 2199. Cable Car Lane, off Lambton Quay. 2pm till 3pm, Thursday, October 4. $2 for a return child ticket, $6 for a return adult ticket. Get up close to glow-worms in a guided tour. Bring walking shoes and a torch. Not suitable for children under 6. Meet at the Founders’ Entrance, Glenmore St. 8.30pm till 9.30pm. Friday, October 5. $5, under 12s free. Cemetery, Wellington Zoo, and the Colonial Cottage in Nairn St.
