Masterton firm covers all aspects of roofing and plumbing

-

AN AWARD-WINNING Wairarapa enterprise is being sold as two businesses combined. Water-Mart Wairarapa and Water-Mart Roofing, at 38-40 Villa St, Masterton, have an asking price of $2 million.

‘‘They will suit anyone who’s keen to run a sound business in the building and construction sector or a company that wants to tap into quality revenues and significantly grow their business,’’ Ben Thomas, of ABC Business, says.

Set up more than 20 years ago, Water-Mart and Water Mart Roofing provide expert installation and servicing in all aspects of plumbing, drainlaying, gasfitting, sheet metal fabrication, roofing and related services throughout the Wairarapa and beyond.

‘‘From modest beginnings they’ve grown into a market leader, with a large team of well-trained and qualified staff backed up by an efficient management and administration team,’’ Mr Thomas says. ‘‘Key to the company’s continual growth has been their emphasis on valuing all new and existing clients, no matter how small or big the job is.

‘‘The care and pride they take in maintaining these solid and dependable relationships has earned them a vast amount of repeat business.’’

Mr Thomas says commercial work drives most of the company’s turnover, citing recent projects for the Landsdowne Park Lifestyle Village, Wairarapa Hospital, Mitre 10 Mega Masterton, Masterton Court House and police station, Masterton District Council, Wairarapa College, Arbor House Rest Home and four supermarkets.

‘‘Being the only genuine onestop business for all plumbing services in the Wairarapa gives Water-Mart multiple income streams,’’ Mr Thomas says.

These include minor building alterations; kitchen and bathroom designs; gasfitting and gas appliance sales and service; sheet metal work; domestic sprinkler systems; septic system design, installation and maintenance; roofing, cladding and spouting; and waste management.

‘‘To service this diversity of work, Water-Mart has a very comprehensive range of vehicles, machinery, tools and equipment with which to carry out all operations,’’ Mr Thomas says.

‘‘They seldom require contractors.’’

The modern premises were purpose-built to operate the two businesses, he says.

‘‘There’s also a large yard where the vehicles, trailers and diggers are parked and other plant and some stock is stored.’’

Other areas include offices, staff rooms, meeting/training rooms, reception area and sales office, and a showroom for bathroom hardware and fittings, kitchen fittings and other products WaterMart supplies and installs.

‘‘The land and buildings are owned by a trust associated with our vendor who will grant a new lease on terms and conditions satisfactory to both parties.’’

‘‘The combined rent paid of $87,999.96, plus GST, and rates of $8342.90, plus GST, is indicative.’’

Mr Thomas says Water-Mart’s high standard of service is reflected in its positive community image and winning the 2013 Master Plumber of the Year Award at the Master Plumbers Gasfitters & Drainlayers Industry annual conference.

‘‘Water-Mart’s management and diverse income streams through all aspects of its industry sector have allowed it to weather the downturn over the past few years and come out in a strong position where

others have failed.’’
