Spirited bidding for classic Kiwi bach

-

AN ‘‘AMAZING, classic piece of Kiwiana’’ in Waikanae Beach has been auctioned for $140,000 above its rateable value of $220,000.

The 50-square-metre weatherboard bungalow, at 21 Te Moana Rd, sold for $360,000.

‘‘Bidding from several parties was spirited,’’ Ray Marshall, of Harcourts Waikanae, says.

‘‘The owners of the last 22 years were sad to leave as they have loved the private and sheltered fully fenced 782-square-metre site that’s a mere hop, skip and a jump and cafes, park, shops and transport.’’ A PAEKAKARIKI home that needed ‘‘total renovation’’ has been auctioned for $150,000.

The property, at 70 Tilley Rd, had a rateable value of $290,000.

Glenda Richardson, of Harcourts Paraparaumu, promoted its potential to developers and do-ityourselfers wanting a project.

‘‘The home needed a total renovation downstairs and TLC upstairs to bring it back to its glory,’’ she says.

‘‘However, it was in a very sunny, sloping section of about 1136 square metres with established trees and a small glimpse to the sea.

‘‘So there were many possibilities here.’’ WE ARE looking for stories on businesses for sale. To be considered for a story on this page please email details to:
