Scored New Zealand’s fastest test hundred in 74 balls, surpassing his own mark of 78 in his last innings against Pakistan at Sharjah. Averages 72.75 in 2014. Became 10th player in test cricket to pass 150 four times in a year.

Has now scored four centuries in a year, joining Kane Williamson who has also done it this year, as the most prolific New Zealand century makers in a calendar year.

Has now scored 11 test centuries, putting him fourth equal on the New Zealand list with Nathan Astle and behind only Ross Taylor and John Wright (both 12) and Martin Crowe (17).

Has hit the most sixes in a calendar year with 33. He started yesterday’s innings tied with Adam Gilchrist with 22 and raced ahead with 11 sixes.

He started the day in 10th equal on the all-time test six hitting list with 81 but finished with 92 and in fourth, passing Chris Cairns (87) as the Kiwi with the most test sixes.
