PLANE WRONG
Passengers beat up unruly flier
AIRLINE passengers beat up and then tied up a man who reportedly became unruly on a flight from Hong Kong to Vladivostok.
Footage of the incident shows a group of three or four men overpowering another passenger. One man in the restraining group appears to be using his fists and feet far too enthusiastically.
A picture of the aftermath of the melee shows a man trussed up with seatbelts and tape, lying in the aisle of the plane.
Reports said the fight happened on Monday on board Siberia Airlines flight 546. Passengers beat up an unruly man, then left him tied up in the aisle.
Vostok-Media reported the restrained passenger was drunk and insulted and threatened others on the plane.
Police said a young man was detained for disorderly conduct and being intoxicated in public.
The legality of actions taken by others on the flight could be investigated.
There have been other similar incidents this year on flights in Russia.
Earlier this year, a male passenger on board a flight from Kazan to Moscow locked himself in a toilet after flight attendants asked him to stop smoking and return to his seat.
The man then shattered the toilet mirror and started a brawl. He was detained by police upon the plane’s arrival in Moscow.
In March, a flight from Moscow to St Petersburg was forced to turn back after a heavily intoxicated passenger from India tried to take over the flight while it was in mid-air.
The troublemaker was placed in police custody after the plane landed at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport.
