Warner’s wife denies feud

-

Candice Warner, wife of test opener David Warner, has slammed rumours of a feud between herself and skipper Michael Clarke’s wife Kyly, while going in to bat for the Wags.

News Corp has reported Australia’s tour had been dogged by off-field dramas which included bad-blood between two unnamed Wags (wives and girlfriends), with Candice and Kyly eventually named.

‘‘This story that we may not get along is total rubbish,’’ she told the Triple M Grill Team.

Warner said her main focus when on tour was her husband, but conceded in these environments there was bound to be conflict, though she didn’t have incredible rate from such a position against any team, let alone against Trent Boult and Tim Southee. The mark of a test allrounder is that he can hit a century or take five wickets in an innings with equal facility: this makes him a ‘‘genuine allrounder’’, whatever a false one may be.

Stokes has achieved both feats twice in his 15 tests, but his finest any problems with anyone.

‘‘In any group there’s going to be people who . . . it doesn’t matter if it’s a work environment or sporting environment, who aren’t going to get along,’’ she said. ‘‘I get along with everyone . . . I’m here to support David.’’

Last week, former test wicketkeeper Ian Healy said the Wags were a contributing factor for Australia’s poor Ashes performance as they were a ‘‘distraction’’.

When questioned whether Wags should be allowed to tour with the team, Candice Warner replied: ‘‘Most definitely. I think a lot of them would be very unhappy if their kids and their partners weren’t here.’’ yet has to be the 92 he scored off 94 balls at this definitive moment.

‘‘And all of a sudden the headlines were: ‘‘This new England way of playing. But I think we stumbled across it as opposed to set out to play in that way,’’ Farbrace admitted candidly. ‘‘I think it suits us. You look at the way the middle order play and they are all quite attacking batsmen.
