THE OWNERS of Wellington Sewing Services are putting their life’s work on the line for the first time.

‘‘This is truly a sewing paradise,’’ Mike Redman, of LINK Business, says of the business at 22 Bay Rd, in the Kilbirnie Plaza.

‘‘[It has] one of the largest selections of sewing machines and overlockers in New Zealand, featuring brands from the world’s leading manufacturers, an amazing range of sewing accessories and furniture, haberdashery for every need, an extensive range of wool, craft supplies and a selection of dress making and quilting fabrics that would make your mouth water.

‘‘Courses are provided upstairs to sewers and quilters from all walks of life. Simply put, it’s a ‘one-stop’ sewing shop,’’ Redman says.

Brands synonymous with the best in the sewing world include Janome, Elna, Pfaff, Husqvarna, Singer and Babylock.

‘‘The owners have developed outstanding relationships with these suppliers over the years, and they regard Wellington Sewing Services as one of their premier outlets,’’ Redman says.

‘‘The business is in the heart of the busy Kilbirnie shopping centre, close to the airport and central to all major suburbs.

‘‘Customers have been coming into the shop from all over New Zealand and as far afield as Australia and the Pacific Islands, making their first stop in Wellington a visit to the shop.

‘‘They have bought all their sewing machines and accessory needs from the company stretching back over many years.

‘‘In addition, the business has a fully functional and successful ‘e-commerce’ website that is in the process of being upgraded.

‘‘New owners could put their own stamp on further improvements to the website and related social media platforms, which, in the busy world in which we live, will become an increasingly important part of the ‘fabric’ of the business’’.

Redman says Wellington Sewing Services is entrenched as the premier provider of ‘‘everything sewing’’’.

‘‘This is an operation that has been built on time tested foundations of first-class service, attention to detail, reliability and a commitment to building relationships that span the generations.’’

He says the shop team are highly trained and motivated to provide the best possible experience for their customers.

‘‘There are ample opportunities to grow the business further, to take it to the next level and with the owners now reaching retirement, they feel they would like the new owners to benefit from these opportunities.

‘‘The business has an annual turnover of close to $1 million and produces an excellent return for the owner.’’
