WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL AT A GLANCE

-

What: Netball World Cup Semifinal Who: New Zealand v England

Where and when: Allphones Arena and Sky Sport 4, 2.10pm today

New Zealand (from): Casey Kopua, Leana de Bruin, Katrina Grant, Phoenix Karaka, Kayla Cullen, Laura Langman, Shannon Francois, Grace Rasmussen, Maria Tutaia, Jodi Brown, Bailey Mes, Malia Paseka

England (from): Geva Mentor, Eboni Beckford Chambers, Sonia Mkoloma, Stacey Francis, Serena Guthrie, Jade Clarke, Sara Dayman, Tamsin Greenway, Rachel Dunn, Pamela Cooke, Helen Housby, Jo Harten

THREE TO WATCH: CASEY KOPUA v JO HARTEN

The two Magic team-mates are going to enjoy this one. Both competitive and vocal on court, they get on a treat off it. Harten is a streaky shooter who can hit 10 in a row and then miss five. It’s up to Kopua to keep the goal shoot from getting on a hot run, given goal production from goal attack is not one of England’s strengths.

GRACE RASMUSSEN v SERENA GUTHRIE

Guthrie is an absolute dynamo. Mouthy, combative, athletic, she kills attacking raids stone dead. She’ll niggle Rasmussen from the first minute to the last, and it’s imperative the Silver Ferns wing attack wins this battle. Centre Laura Langman is going to have her hands full with Jade Clarke, so Rasmussen must be New Zealand’s dominant feeder.

BAILEY MES v GEVA MENTOR

Mentor isn’t fully fit so Mes might get time against Eboni Beckford-Chambers or Sonia Mkoloma. Whichever it is, they’re all physical defenders. The goal shoot was brave against Australia but has been battered by Jamaica and Malawi, and has to bounce back.
