Diverse group in Deloitte Fast 50
WELLINGTON’S rapidly growing companies are in a race to make it high into the Fast 50 index.
The Deloitte Fast 50 Wellington and lower North Island regional winners were announced at a ceremony in the capital last night.
Business winners include technology, business services, electricity, manufacturing and craft beer companies.
The Fast 50 index ranks the top 50 businesses in New Zealand according to their revenue growth over the past three years.
Entrants are required to have been in business for a minimum of three years, and have had operating revenue of at least $300,000.
As well as the national Fast 50 index, there are regional awards for the fastest growing manufacturer, technology business, services business, retail/consumer products business, exporter, and mature business (operating for 15 years of more) in five regions: Auckland and upper North Island, central North Island, Wellington and lower North Island, Canterbury and upper South Island, and Otago and Lower South Island.
All technology businesses which enter the Deloitte Fast 50 are automatically nominated for the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia-Pacific index announced in Hong Kong in December.
The final rankings and growth percentages of the national Fast 50 index, national category winners and national rising star winner will be unveiled at the Festival of Fast Growth in Auckland on November 4.
Deloitte partner Paul Pettit said the 2015 Wellington winners were a diverse group.
‘‘A common theme behind their success is the ability to identify and then capitalise on a point of difference from their competitors,’’ he said.
‘‘They do a specific thing well and try to nail that niche.’’
The successful businesses showed the benefits of good governance, a strong business plan and skilled, passionate staff.
