TERRACE TUNNEL NEEDS REVERSIBLE LANE

-

Returning to New Zealand after a number of years living in Brisbane, I was not sorry to say goodbye to my morning commute. No longer would I have to fight my way through hordes of angry morning commuters. I was looking forward to heading to a capital city where they would surely have traffic under control, Justin Lester can have his pandas, people could watch them cavorting at the zoo, while the Wellington ratepayer can still have their roads fixed.

In fact, as far as I can see, it’s win-win. Some citizens, of course, would probably like to also replace several politicians with Weta/ Jackson automata but I could not possibly comment on that idea, despite its certain attractions.

PETER SULLIVAN or so I thought before I discovered Wellington’s innercity motorway.

After reading all of the complaints about the Mt Victoria Tunnel and the Basin Reserve, I have been wondering why no-one has mentioned the Terrace Tunnel. Morning queues there can feel like eternity and it seems NZTA is happy to leave us sitting on the motorway.

Isn’t it time the existing tunnel was better utilised? Couldn’t the centre lane be made into a reversible lane? That system is used on the Auckland Harbour Bridge, so why not here?

radio presenters guilty of such mistakes. And could our national sportsmen and women not get speech training before they set off overseas and open their mouths for an interview?

A certain All Black, gorgeous as he is, over the weekend, used the words ‘‘you know’’ more than any others in his sentences. We have a prime minister who uses this term a lot too.
