Kane bags brace as Spurs sink West Ham

-

A DOUBLE from Harry Kane, who scored in his fifth consecutive club match, has inspired Tottenham Hotspur to a 4-1 win over London rival West Ham United in the English Premier League.

England striker Kane continued his searing form, finding the target in his fourth straight league game after 23 minutes to set Spurs on their way to a 12th consecutive league match without defeat, matching the club’s record EPL run.

After Kane’s blistering leftfoot strike on the turn, Toby Alderweireld headed home a second 10 minutes later and then Kane struck again straight after the break in yesterday’s match at White Hart Lane.

Kyle Walker bent home an elegant fourth in the 83rd minute before a late consolation from West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini.

Tottenham, unbeaten in the league since a 1-0 defeat at Manchester United on the opening day, moved to within four points of surprise leaders Leicester City.

They also jumped three points clear of West Ham, whose best start to an EPL season was rudely arrested, and lie fifth on 24 points, two behind north London rivals Arsenal and thirdplaced Manchester City and three off Manchester United.

The really frightening thing for Premier League defenders is that Jamie Vardy is not even fully fit.

Patched up and defrosted after a week in a freezing Cyro chamber, the Leicester City striker will spend another week on ice ahead of his recordbreaking attempt at Manchester United.

Vardy missed England’s friendlies against Spain and France because of the discomfort in his hip, yet his scorching goalscoring sequence for his club continued.

Should he score at Old Trafford next weekend, Vardy will break Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Premier League record for scoring in consecutive games and will move to within one of the top-flight record of 12, set by Jimmy Dunne, for Sheffield United in 1932.
