Eat the Film returns to the Roxy
The Roxy Cinema and the CoCo At The Roxy are hosting another Eat the Film event on April 6, an immersive dining experience where film buffs and foodies can enjoy the restaurant’s newly launched Into the Woods themed menu while getting lost in Pan’s Labyrinth. Following on from the roaring success of the venue’s previous celluloid and cuisine collaborations, which usually only take place annually during the Wellington on a Plate festival, the team have decided to hold ETF events intermittently throughout the year to coincide with the introduction of every new seasonal menu.
Guillermo del Toro’s cinematic masterpiece makes the perfect pairing for the autumnal fare, with game meats and fruits of the forest starring in roasted fern and rabbit terrines; wild mushroom and chickpea crepes; and chestnut icecream. The in-house culinary talent, award-winning mixologist Ray Letoa and renowned head chef Nic Spicer, have developed dishes and drinks with a playful yet slightly dark, mysterious flair.
Of the creative process, Spicer says, ‘‘like all good restaurants we base our menus around seasonal change, and we like to take it one step further with a visual aspect based on what that season evokes in our creative food and film freak minds.
‘‘For autumn ... when we think of the woods, we think of the fairytales that fascinated and kind of scared us as children. Pan’s
Labyrinth is the perfect film to sum it all up.’’
Tickets are $65 (non-alcoholic option available - please inform when booking).
