A treasure for all to see

-

TENDERS CLOSE on August 3 for an exceptionally large Hataitai home in a quiet cul-de-sac with stunning sea views.

The 550-square-metre house, at 11 Treasure Grove, is for sale for the first time in more than 20 years. Built in the 1990s, it’s on a sunny, elevated 820-square-metre section that faces east across Evans Bay and and south over Lyall Bay to Cook Strait.

As well as off-street parking, the three-level cedar and shingle roof dwelling offers enough internalaccess garaging for five cars. The separate tandem garage/workshop and double-garage are on the ground level, along with a laundry and a big rumpus or games room.

The latter has a built-in corner seat with storage and opens to a wide deck that extends along the eastern frontage. The living/dining areas and kitchen on the first level also open to decking. The spacious formal lounge has a built-in bar and adjoins a second, smaller living area or TV room.

Internal sliding doors mean both living areas can be opened up to the vast kitchen and family/dining area. The latter has polished floorboards, built-in seating for dining, a heat pump and extensive bench space.

The kitchen also has a breakfast bar island with built-in wine storage, two wall ovens, a gas and electric cooktop, rangehood, dishwasher, two appliance garages and high glazing.

The large formal dining faces west for late sun and has a bay window; also on this level is a large office or possible fifth bedroom. Three of the formal bedrooms have built-in double wardrobes with storage space above.

The main bedroom has a dressing area, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite with a shower cabinet, vanity, toilet and rimu-panelled ceiling. All the bedrooms open to balconies and one has a window seat with storage.

The main bathroom has a corner spa bath, wet shower and vanity; the toilet is separate. Other features include skylights/roof windows, a west-facing courtyard and large service courtyard, an alarm system and door code access.

‘‘This is a fantastic family home that offers extraordinary living and entertaining space,’’ Sophie Nunns, of Lowe & Co Realty, says. ‘‘There’s potential to add value by updating the interior and it’s in a popular suburb that’s sought after for its sun, views and proximity to the city, airport and eastern bays.’’

The property has a rateable value of $1.5 million.
