AKELBURN COTTAGE in a quiet, private location only minutes from village shops has been auctioned for $350,000 above its rateable value.
The property, at 32 Plunket St, had a rateable value of $600,000 and sold for $950,000.
Socheata Tep and Mike Robbers, of Harcourts, marketed the three-bedroom dwelling as being in a prime location for students and professionals.
The 110-square-metre cottage was built in the 1900s on a 576sqm section with dual access from 57 Fairview Cres, where there was a car park.

The property, at 4 Pearce St, had a rateable value of $560,000 and sold for $733,000.
‘‘Originally built in the 1940s, this home had stunning views of Wellington overlooking Newtown, Mount Victoria, CBD and the harbour,’’ Steve Fejos, of Harcourts, says. ‘‘But it needed a total renovation as all the interior lining, doors, floor coverings and most of the cabinetry had been removed.’’
The 160sqm house had three doublebedrooms, an open-plan kitchen, living and dining room, and a main bathroom with a spa bath and shower.
