Family’s plea after killing
The family of Paul Te Hiko are ‘‘deeply traumatised’’ by his death, after the 40-yearold was gunned down in Wainuiomata.
In a short statement issued by police, the family added that they ask anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Sears said a large team of detectives continues to investigate the death of Te Hiko, who was found shot dead on March 7. The public response to date has been ‘‘fantastic’’ but police are still keen to hear from anyone who can still help, he said.
‘‘We would particularly like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Jack Vaughan Grove on the evening of Wednesday, March 7, and may have seen people or vehicles of interest to the investigation team.’’
Police are also appealing to anyone who was tramping or hunting in the Wainuiomata area that day.
Te Hiko’s family are appealing to anyone who knows what happened to come forward.
Mayor Ray Wallace said he felt for the family and it was tragic that they had lost a son.
He has not met the family but said the father, Mike Te Hiko, is a developer in Wainuiomata.
