Wolves stun Chelsea as United, Gunners draw

-

Chelsea lost more ground in the Premier League title race by squandering an early lead to go down 2-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota scored goals in a four-minute span around the hour mark to condemn Chelsea to a second loss in three games, after a recent 3-1 defeat at Tottenham.

Chelsea are 10 points behind unbeaten leaders Manchester City and could now be in a race just to finish in the top four to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Manchester City just cannot shrug off Liverpool in what is looking increasingly like a twohorse race for the Premier League title.

Three days after scoring an injury-time winner in the local derby against Everton, Liverpool came from behind to beat Burnley 3-1 and move back to within two points of the defending champions.

Reds boss Juergen Klopp made seven changes to his side and his side struggled to break down Burnley in a goalless first half.

Jack Cork gave Burnley the lead early in the second half, only for James Milner to put Liverpool back on level terms eight minutes later.

Klopp turned to his bench to bring on Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino and the visitors quickly went ahead through a brilliantly-worked set piece with Firmino tapping the ball into an empty net and sealed the win when Xherdan Shaqiri netted the third.

Manchester United and Arsenal played to an entertaining 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

A goalkeeping blunder from United’s David de Gea gifted Shkodran Mustafi a goal in the 26th minute but Anthony Martial equalised four minutes later.

The Gunners regained the lead in the 68th minute through Alexandre Lacazette after some sloppy United defending, only for Jesse Lingaard to level matters a minute later as he beat the keeper to poke home.

Tottenham Hotspur moved up to third place with a 3-1 win over Southampton, while the other two matches both finished in 1-1 draws – between Fulham and Leicester, and Everton and Newcastle.
