Do you think petty criminals should be jailed or given home detention? Why? Jailed. And why? Because then they won’t have a chance of escaping and disrupting lives.

You are allowed to have a private show performed by any musician or band – who would it be, and why?

Probably the Beatles. Because they’re the Beatles.

What is the scariest thing you’ve ever done?

I jumped out of an aeroplane once, skydiving. What is the worst purchase you’ve ever made?

There’s plenty of those – the worst would probably be something I bought and never used. Actually, a PlayStation. And why? It was a waste of hours of my time and my life.

The All Blacks – are they the pride of New Zealand or overpaid demigods?

Overpaid demigods. That’s an easy one.

If you wrote a book, who would you dedicate it to? Why? To my wife. And if she wasn’t standing here, it’d still be my wife.

Do you think your home town should ban begging? Why or why not?

No, because if you can make a buck doing that, it’s probably OK.

What is the best thing that’s happened to you today?

Breakfast. It was Spanish eggs, with a hash

brown. The hash brown really put it over.

If money was no object, what would you do with your life? Would you work?

That’s tough. I think I’d play golf, try to learn an instrument and be healthy.

What is the biggest issue facing your home town right now? And what do you think can be done about it?

Poverty and homelessness. And to deal with it – maybe better strategies for how we deal with that and how we get people off the street into housing, how we feed them, help them find jobs. How we support them.
